Bead Magazine Project - Copper Wirework and Ceramic Flower Earrings!

Look out for issue 45 of Bead magazine which was out on 13 March. Bead has a new look this issue and is full of Spring inspiration! There's quite a lot of floral action going on including a step-by-step project for my copper wirework earrings with ceramic flower beads.  I love those beads!  Seeing the photos has reminded me to dig out the rest of those ceramic flower beads and do something else with them. I bought a mix of colours including lilac, pink and yellow. I'd like to thread them onto copper or silver hoops then solder the hoops closed. I "think" the ceramic beads will stand up to the heat of the torch ok. Some strategically placed pliers would act as a heat sink and easy solder would make it a quick in and out job so I may well have a go soon. Here's the colourful front cover of Bead magazine - it's so bright you can't help but be cheered up by it :D

New Earring Project In Bead Magazine!

The latest issue of Bead magazine is out today - 14 March! The theme for projects this time was "spring" so I came up with a pair of sterling silver leaf and curly tendril wirework earrings with a pretty yellow glass "flower bud" dangle If you look carefully you can spot them on the cover :D It looks like an interesting and colourful issue - the lampwork beads on the cover look beautiful and very appealing. I'll have to investigate further when I get my copy!

New Projects In "The Vintage Issue" Of Bead Magazine!

The Oct/Nov issue of Bead magazine (out 21st September) features two of my projects! The theme was "autumn" so I thought antique copper, greens and oranges would fit the bill and came up with a pair of hoop-style wirework earrings with swarovski crystal elements beads in olivine and crystal copper. The earrings are finished with a pair of handmade hoop earwires. The second project shows how to make the hoop earwires plus another pair of simple earwires. I also made a sterling silver version with amethyst beads  The vintage edition looks to be pretty interesting!

Two New Projects In Bead Magazine

The latest edition of Bead magazine came out last Wednesday (20 July) and I'm really pleased to say I have two projects in this issue! One is a spiral copper wirework bracelet with turquoise jasper you can find on page 30 And the other is a project on oxidising copper and sterling silver called "Playing With Patina" on page 68 which I don't have a photo for! It's the third time I've had a project in the magazine and I still get excited when I see it in print :D

New Earrings Project In Bead Magazine

Issue 28 of Bead magazine is out today and features a variety of lovely projects including my green freshwater pearl and sterling silver wirework earrings on page 45! I forgot to take a photo of the finished earrings before sending them off to the magazine for photographing so here's a couple of the step-by-step photos I took plus a copper version of the earrings

I'm Featured In Bead Magazine!

One morning way back in May I was amazed to see an email from Jean Power, the previous editor of Bead magazine. She'd spotted my jewellery on Etsy and asked if I would like to be featured in the Winter Sparkle edition of the magazine. She also asked if I would do a project with the possibility of regular projects in the future! I was absolutely thrilled as this was one of the things I was hoping to achieve in 2010, although I did think I'd have to do it the hard way and approach the magazine myself! The Winter Sparkle edition features all things sparkly and I decided to make a pair of Swarovski crystal wirework earrings for the project. I've never done a project before so making the earrings for the project was interesting! I made the first one then started the second, stopping at each step to take a photo, doing a bit more then stopping again to take the next photo. It was a bit nerve-wracking and I worried that the photos wouldn't be good enough but I ma...
