Cinnamon Jewellery

After a few requests recently I've now started selling sterling silver headpins. Up to now I've only done earwires in sterling thinking the price for headpins would make people think twice but it seems people are prepared to pay a bit extra for something handmade. So I've now added bright and oxidised 2 inch sterling silver ball and hammered headpins in 20g/0.8mm, 22g/0.6mm and 24g/0.5mm. I've now finished adding them to my Folksy , Etsy and eBay shops!

That's how I'd describe my mood concerning my blog recently. Not because I don't enjoy writing stuff - I do, it's just "other things" have been on my mind. I started a part-time home carer job recently after 18 months of working as a private carer doing a few hours a day so working for a company again feels a bit weird. There've been a few starting hiccups - not knowing when I would get my days off, cocking up my worksheet then expecting me to work 7 days a week without any notice (er, no!) and the inevitable Saturday night " can you help us out, someone's gone off sick " phone calls. After previously working for another care company for five years sometimes doing 15 hour days without a proper break I vowed when I left never to work nights again so the answer to those phone calls is a definite no! I work mornings and that's it :D I am enjoying the work though and the people I go to are lovely. B rowsing Etsy  recently my eye was caught by a very colourful pair of earrings. On further investigation I discovered they were enamelled copper made by Michelle of Etsy shop  Teka & Zoe , named after Michelle's two Chihuahuas. Michelle is based in Gardnerville, Nevada and loves to fuse, pound, stamp, etch and wrap metal and now also enamel it too.......Enamelling is the process of fusing glass to metal then kiln firing it to achieve the beautiful results you can see here. Michelle describes her jewellery as colourful, modern, organic and casual. There's one word she forgot......... G•O•R•G•E•O•U•S!!

I came across Shadow Dog Designs aka Catherine via   Flickr and she is now one of my contacts. Catherine lives in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and is a self-professed "nature geek". Nature is her muse and she only has to look at the marsh she lives on to gain inspiration for her beautiful jewellery. In the Forest Glen of the Singing Wood Thrush Designing one-of-a-kind jewellery satisfies a strong desire in Catherine to create. She uses mainly semi~precious stones and sterling silver in her creations but also likes to use Swarovski Crystals, Czech glass and polymer clay. She has also recently started to use copper and lampwork beads. One of my favourite Wirework artists, Sharilyn Miller http://www.sharilynmiller.com/ has a new book out this week! It's called "Wire Art Jewelry" & is priced at $24.95 (about £15) She's published it herself therefore the photos inside are in black & white, which is a shame but I'm sure if the book is anything as good as her others it won't matter that much! The link from her website to order the book doesn't appear to be working unfortunately but I shall find a way to get hold of it so I can write a review! Welcome to my blog! I'm a UK based jewellery designer living in Eastbourne, on the South East coast. Eastbourne is a busy seaside town, situated on the edge of the beautiful South Downs. It's also famous for the cliffs at Beachy Head ~ a notorious suicide spot! Browsing the internet looking for earrings one day five years ago is how my jewellery making adventure started. I found lots of handmade earrings & thought to myself ~ I could do that! Armed with a book & the internet I bought the tools & beads I needed & started making basic glass bead & Sterling Silver earrings.
